2 ways your Amex card can save you even more on Walmart Black Friday deals – The Points Guy

If you plan to shop at Walmart this Black Friday shopping season, a way to save even more money on the already good deals is to turn to your American Express cards, specifically The Platinum Card® from American Express.

It is an admittedly strange combination that a premium credit card can save you money at Walmart, but shelve those thoughts for now.

Thanks to your Amex Platinum, there are two ways to save even more on your Walmart Black Friday purchases. Walmart+ gives you a head start on Black Friday deals

Even in an era of online shopping, the best Black Friday deals sell out. We’ve already seen that with Walmart in the last few days with some very discounted AirPods, and I expect to see it again with some of the best deals this week.

However, if you have Walmart+, or sign up for a paid version of that now, you get a three-hour head start on Walmart deal shopping Wednesday, when the official Walmart Black Friday deals are live.

That means you can shop starting Wednesday at noon EST — three hours earlier than the general public. That may make a difference in getting some of the best, most popular deals and missing out.

This is related to a credit card because the Amex Platinum provides an essentially free Walmart+ subscription with $12.95 in statement credits (plus applicable taxes) against the cost of Walmart+ each month.

If you don’t have the Amex Platinum, we also see Amex Offers that provide a discount toward an annual Walmart+ membership on other Amex cards.

Save up to $25 on your Walmart purchases with deals on Amex cards

In addition to Walmart+ and the early access it provides for Black Friday deals, many TPG staffers see Amex Offer shopping discounts on their Amex Platinum cards.

For example, on my Amex Platinum, I have an offer to save 25% on my walmart.com purchases, up to $25 back, by adding the offer to my card and using it to make my purchases. Other TPG staffers also have other offers, such as spending $50 or more at walmart.com and getting $15 back or spending $60 or more at walmart.com and getting $20 back, up to two times on a Platinum card.

On top of that, remember to start your purchase at a cash-back site like Rakuten to earn cash back on your purchase, so you take already good deals and make them that much better.
