How long does it take to receive statement credits from Amex, Capital One, Chase and Citi? – The Points Guy
There’s a good chance that you have a credit card with monthly perks. Other credit cards have annual credits, provided as rebates or statement credits after you spend money with predefined merchants.
However, there’s one thing the banks don’t make clear: how long it really takes to receive these credits.
You may see terms like “allow up to 12 weeks to receive credit” and think that sounds unreasonable. Does it really take 12 weeks to receive credit for using the perks built into your credit card? Luckily, it doesn’t.
We polled readers and TPG staff to see when they normally receive their credits (on average). Here’s a look at how long it takes to get statement credits from American Express, Chase and Capital One.

Bottom line
Using your credit card’s perks is key. These benefits unlock the card’s value and can offset the annual fee you pay to keep the card year after year. However, banks typically don’t make it clear how long it takes to receive your statement credits.
If you’ve been waiting longer than the average on this page, contact your credit card issuer to inquire about missing statement credits. The quickest and most effective way is probably by using your bank’s online chat or secure messaging function.
